Im pretty much done with my current Stagg 40 GA and headed toward the next step as a guitarist!
It served as a nice bedroom amp but I want a louder one better suited for a recently recruited guitarist for a metal band.

The band sounds similar to Black Sabbath, Megadeth & Paul Gilbert.
I personally enjoy playing Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, The White Stripes.

Range of $300-450
I want to find the perfect amp that sounds nice in clean and distortion.
Im not considering Line 6.

Thanks to all.

Why would you point that amp out when B-52 makes a 60 watt tube combo for essentially the same damned price?

Ah, my bad.

You're not truly playing guitar unless you know theory.

If you can go used, a Peavey Classic 30 with a boost would be perfect.

This might not have enough gain for him, if hes playing Megadeth....

I've heard many times that the Classic 30 can do at least thrash without a boost. I'm fairly confident in its ability to do so myself; especially after an OD, it should be more than capable.

i think the valveking might do a little better for black sabbath than the B-52, though both would work. Valveking cleans are a little lacking, and B-52s are ok. Classic 30 MIGHT need an OD to get some of the heavier thrash tones
