I usually hate Fords but i've grown to like the Fusion and I'm thinking about buying one in a couple weeks. I found one that I want it's got a 3 liter V6 in it. What I wanted to know is if that's a good engine in it cause I know absolutely nothing about cars.

I just want something to get me from point A to point B with good gas mileage that I can pick up at a decent price. I know that Dodge's 2.7 engine is crap from first hand experience and I don't want to end up with another engine that'll crap out on me after 50,000 miles. I plan on driving this car (it's a 2008) for probably the next 5-6 years and it's got 36,500 on it now. Help me out.

There's a car thread.

Well, I'll be the first to say buy an old piece-o-crap car and put a small block Chevy engine in it for ~3000.

That or just buy a used Civic...

I went looking quite some time ago and couldn't really get used to sitting in a Toyata. I'm 6'4" and the few I sat in were kinda small.

Maybe a scion, buddy? The tC is a really good car, still made by toyota, and in the 14,000 range, and a little larger.

I have a ford escape with a 3.0 V6. It's a nice car, I've had no problems with it. Oil changes and routine stuff is no problem. The layout is probably different in a fusion tho so i dunno.

I'm 6'4" too, so I know it's hard to find a car to fit in. That's why I went with the escape, and around town i still get about 23 mpg.

On topic though, either Japanese or German is the way to go. Reliability and quality in both of them.

I also dislike the Toyota Corrolla. Least comfortable car I've ever sat in. I have an 05 Nissan Sentra right now, adn it's lacking in power some (1.8 liter 4 cylinder), but gets around 30mpg, has a decent sound system, and good space, so I can't complain.

The FAVORITE car I was ever in though was an 08 Pontiac Grand Prix, that thing fit my whole body like a glove. I WANT a Grand Prix GT eventuallly, even if they do get **** for fuel economy and are discontinued.

You'll want something small then with a small engine.
You guys are the Ford capital of the world, so you must have Fiestas and Focuses over there. Get one with a 1.2 engine in it and you'll get 40 or 50 miles to the gallon.
I hope it doesn't seem, like I'm young, foolish, and green.

IF you want good gas mileage, a 3.0 litre V6 isn't the way to go. You want to be below/around 1.4 to get maybe 40-50mpg.

this. LOVE my ford escape. I just replaced my 02 (with 140,000 miles) with a pre-owned 08. my new escape is getting about 22mpg highway.

That particular model and engine should be perfectly fine but trust me, if your looking for great mileage you'll want a 4 cylinder. Granted that car should give you a mpg rating in the low 20s (hopefully), but i'd personally want more, gas is going to shoot back up eventually and you'll be kicking yourself. Someone mentioned the ford focus and festiva, which are quite efficient and not a bad buy, but if you really want something that will last forever and sip gas look for a Toyota corolla or a Honda civic.

the xB however, has TONS of room.
