you're not gonna want to take a dump in a gross, off-colored, vintage toilet. you want something that is white and pearly; something that shines. something that you can put your cheeks against and say, "f*** yeah"

^I'm not going to list the 12-string 335 since it's just a 12-string version of a commonly known guitar.

I didn't think about signature guitars in my planning of this thread. I'll go ahead and list them, but similar models ( like Dave Grohl, Trini Lopez, Johnny A.) I'll list one picture then mention the other ones. It'll keep the list from getting cluttered

I'd replace the Moderne picture with this one as it features all three different headstocks.

the only bad thing about this guitar is that it doesn't include Alaska or Hawaii. this isn't a USA guitar unless it somehow includes all 50 states!

Headstock is Alaska and the tuning pegs are the Hawaiian Islands. Would that work?

Anyway, I think Les' own signature Les Paul, the Les Paul Recording, counts;

Low-impedance single-coil pickups as per Les' taste with an onboard transformer so they can be used with a conventional amp, Varitone switch, pickup control moved to the rest of the controls, treble and bass controls instead of conventional tone controls, a phase switch, top mounted jack, no maple cap, and the Wizard of Waukesha's personal guitar had Les' personal tinkering over the decades, as well as a bigsby, and at one point in the late 70's/80's, a handmade looper below the bridge and a microphone near the top strap button. It's the shape of a Les Paul, but it's far from normal.

did they ever make the moderne? i remember checking out the patent on it but didn't think they actually made very many. i know ted nuggent has one, but that's the only one i've ever heard of.

According to John Entwistle's book "Bass Culture" in which he shows off his guitar and bass collection he has a reissue of the Moderne but states that Gibosn never actually released the original moderne.

i didn't think they ever had.

it's funny that they do a reissue of a guitar that wasn't.

I once saw a moderne in the shop that i got my SG from - the guys in there wouldn't even let themselves play it, let alone customers. it was sold to a collector, just as they said it would be.

apparently it was from a very limited run in the '80s but they didn't tell me exactly how many (or indeed, how few) were made.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

Updated with some information on each guitar (as I could find the info) and changed the layout a bit. New suggestions, information, or corrections are always welcome
