for the last few days i've been trying to learn scales and stuff but i've been wondering that in the G major pentatonic scales theres the 5 notes (GABDE) for example, why are those specific notes used? and same goes for the other scales

well short answer the major pentatonic is just taken from the major scale
and now the major pentatonic is just the G chord GBD with an added tone on the root and 5th which just worked harmoniously

the major pentatonic scale ommits the 4th and 7th degrees of the major scale so that there are no semitone intervals

the minor pentatonic ommits the 2nd and 6th for the same reason.

in G major the notes are G-A-B-C-D-E-F#

the G is the 1st degree, A is the 2nd etc.

the G minor pentatonic is part of the G minor scale, which is 1-2-b3-4-5-b6-b7-1

the b's refer to flattened notes (notes dropped by 1 semitone) that relate to the degrees of the major scale.

G Major pentatonic is part of the G Major scale, G minor pentatonic is part of the G minor scale

To understand scales the easiest place to start is the major scale

but while im here, so when u mean it omits the 4th and 7th u mean it rules them out pretty much leaving GADBE?
