Everyone knows it when they see it.

Blazing orange, extremely low price tag, three knobs...

IT'S A BOSS DS-1!!!!!

Basically I just wanted to start a poll wondering if the kind, loving ( ) users of the UG forums liked BOSS or not. Personally, I love BOSS...not a 'boutique' kinda guy.

Feel free to discuss all mods here as well.

Thank you and enjoy!

P.S. I have a strong feeling I'm going to get flamed for this thread.....

DS-2 is my personal fave, Ds-1 is alright, but amazing when modded. I used to have a MD-2 which was alright. The metalzone and metalcore pedals both suck (unless modded also)

I had a modded ds-1 before, I liked how it sounded but I wanted a tube dist pedal with 2 channels. It was a good pedal, especially for the price

Personally I'm not a huge fan. I can dig some of them, particularly the Blues Driver, but in the end I really prefer a hefty chunk of fuzz over distortion.

i've owned a ds-1 and an sd-1, didn't care for either of them.
i used to be a mod, then i took an arrow in the knee.

I own a DS-2, and I never really liked it, even as boost... maybe if I get it modded, but that's unlikely.

I'd rather get a Danelectro Cool Cat Distortion... I found them more tonally appealing.

*Okay, so the poll question is "BOSS Distortions... what one?" and there is a multiple choice option...?
Also, in a thread about distortions, you have a poll option that says something about their effects..? I picked the wrong one because of this...

I agree with you on the SD-1, horrible....HORRIBLE I SAY! But I like my DS-1.

Thought this video of a modded Metal Zone was link-worthy:

Dude, so you tried out 3 BOSS distortions, thought they all sucked, so you bought all of them? Just kidding. Well, to each their own...

I dig the Boss Metalzone ... it's got great tone in front of a tube amp .... seriously .... oh well not really ... nah not at all

The only ones I've had experience with are the MetalZone and the OS2. Wonder why I won't by a boss dist pedal again?
#14
the boss distortions never seemed good for leads, to me. the ones i tried were chunky and fat, but had little sustain, and had a crispy top end that i didn't like. for rhythms, tho, they're ok.

Maybe a clean boost would help that???

I'm not being sarcastic, I'm actually asking a question, btw.

the SD-1 is a great tight boost, the MD-2 is not bad, and the HM-2 from back in the day is the ****e. the rest pretty much suck
