I was hoping I could get some opinions on this.

Over the last few years the Gov. here has been trying to launch (and failing) compulsory ID cards for all British people.

I know some people here will be living in countries with compulsory ID cards, but for those who aren't, would you be comfy having your details used in this way?

Next they'll be needing you to have ID for leaving the country, or even just for getting into bars.

I don't get why people, conspiracy nuts, and ron paul supporters are so agasint ID cards. We already have social securities numbers, whats the big deal.

Gordon Brown will be able to watch you masturbate using a tiny camera embedded in the card.

It's just a waste of money really. All of that information, and far more, is already available to the government when they want it. People who use the internet definitely have nothing to worry about. If they want to find out stuff about you they have all the info they ever need on your computer.

For immigration purposes, ID is needed for leaving the country.

For getting in bars, there is a legally defined age limit- ID is needed to implement this.

Isn't jail pretty much like 1984? People watching everything you do, telling you what to do all the time.
All that's missing is the rats eating your face, and they make up for that with broom rape.

Seems like a stupid thing to do really.

Oh no...

Prison is 5* luxury apparently.

I don't understand why people are saying it's a bad idea, but it's still not a good idea. Nothing can actually be gained from it and a lot of the data they want on it is fairly worthless.

Yea, it's not like the Gov't knows what you're doing 24/7 when you're in jail, right?

You still have rights in jail, so you're more free in a sense.

Same.
Unless I could fuck some nice 26 year old from the Records Department in a back field or an old abandoned house - that'd be nice

On topic, in a recession this will never happen due to the staggering amount of money that'd be required to be ploughed into the entire system. Plus, I doubt a lot of people will accept such an invasion of our privacy. And as for the task of policing this new system, well your guess is as good as mine.
Until they iron out all the massive problems with this, then they might start thinking about it.
Until then, I'll continue to buy my 16 year old friends shots of Sambuca in bars and give 14 year old friends cigarettes.
I hope it doesn't seem, like I'm young, foolish, and green.
Let me in for a minute, you're not my life but I want you in it

ha that reminded me of "you can't hug your children with nuclear arms" which then made me think of the hilarity of someone having "nuclear" tattooed on their arms and their kid saying "daddy, can i have a hug?" with them replying "no, damn it don't you see i can't hug you now with these arms?"
ha anyway, on topic, i'm not sure how i feel about this because it kind of would be spying

I'm in the UK, we don't have right to bear arms, and there is a move to allow prisoner voting here.
#34
This isn't going to happen, the government has basically gave up on the idea, however they've added more personal information to existing forms of I.D, for example new passports contain biometric chips on them.

that doesnt change the point that your argument was stupid and poorly reasoned. saying you have more rights in jail is just moronic.
