Some guy is giving away an 80watt crate and 80w peavey bandit for free on craigslist... he said he put them in storage working and they dont work anymore... is it worth trying to repair?

Depends on the problem! Most SS stuff is disposable when they go out. The bench fee and diagnostics sometimes can be close to or more than the replacement cost for many amps. As they are free you can always get em maybe its something simple if not you can strip em for parts or make extension cabs out of them.
