You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

An original Dean perhaps? The old custom Ibanez RG's were amazign as well...

Fender Richie Sambora Strat for me. Though a 1954 Gibson Les Paul goldtop - the one with the cream P-90s and single piece wraparound bridge - is a close second, with the Kramer Jersey Star in third.

You should probably change the topic title...

Anyway, I can't say what the best guitar is but I will say that I prefer the sound of semi hollow bodied guitars.

I have an RG, it's alright. The neck is pretty good but the tone leaves something to be desired, then again as not someone who's not too picky I find the amp affects the tone a lot more then the guitar.

I don't like Gibsons that much, Les Pauls have terrible necks

only to you. personally, it's my favorite neck I've played on an electric. Even more than my Washburn. :/

Best guitar I've played would be a Gibson LP Standard, year 06 or something. I haven't played a lot of super great guitars.

The thing is, in a band like chickenfoot, think of the JSX as a submarine and the Marshall as a plane. No matter how good the submarine is, it might be the perfect submarine, if you need a plane, a submarine ain't gonna do it for you.

I think you hear so much about RG's because they're attractively priced for entry/intermediate players with decent looks and thin necks. Because of this so many people own them. Alot of owners= alot of talk about them. End of story.
