I didnt know which forum this should go in, so I brought it here.
Im making my brother a cd of metal and rock stuff that is not too br00talz, and I need ideas.
Ive already decided on RATM and Megadeth, because theyre two of my favorite bands, but I need some more, so what should I put?

EDIT: in order of greatest to least in br00talz level.

Some Racer X? Not many lyrics, which usually turns people away, but still you could stick in Scarified, Technical Difficulties, Frenzy, or Street Lethal just because I said so.

Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, In Flames, Protest the Hero, Between the Buried and me, and I'll throw in Lamb of God, but they might be to hardcore, but they really aren't.

You gotta get some Guns and Roses and Nirvana on there, maybe some Queens of the Stone Age, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Billy Talent, that pretty much sums it up for me as far as far as radio worthy rock goes. You could also try to push your luck and get some Alexisonfire in there, to see if he'd be down for heavier stuff in the future.

Btw, I salute your initiative, I pimped out my little brother's mp3 playlist recently haha.

Brand New is the greatest band ever. Put them on it or die of butt herpes.

I would have to disagree with you sir.

Anyway, umm... anything from Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced or Electric Ladyland album... Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Eric Clapton/Cream, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Metallica (even though he probably should've heard Metallica songs before), Pink Floyd, Rush, Slayer (Slayer is kinda br00talz, but not too br00talz), The Clash.

I read your username, yet I suggested what you should have suggested.

I was gonna put Racer X, but I don't want to do any self promoting.

Some newer Disturbed, like 10,000 Fists or The Night is good, still heavy but with nice clean vocals. Arms of Sorrow, the clean version of My Curse, or the End of Heartache by Killswitch Engage is excellent. My Apocalypse by Arch Enemy would be good because its both brutal and melodic at the same time. Maybe some System of a Down, older stuff, off Toxicity or Steal This Album perhaps.

okay, ive just decided that i want it to go from hard rock stuff, and gradually let it get more br00tal, so if you would please list in that order, thanks.

How about some Porcupine Tree? Shallow, Trains, Slave Called Shiver, Fear of a Blank Planet, Sound of Muzak, Lightbulb Sun.... Any of those would work.

I also second Racer X.

You should also throw in some Muse, Flaw, Dredg, Down, and Corrosion of Conformity!!

Edit: Just saw your post TS.

Dredg
Porcupine Tree
Muse
Corrosion of Conformity
Flaw
Down

I guess that would be from lightest to heaviest...

Rolling Stones/Jimi Hendrix -> Eric Clapton/Cream -> Alice In Chains/Guns N Roses -> Metallica/Megadeth -> Anthrax -> Slayer = Celtic Frost -> Mayhem/Darkthrone/Burzum = Morbid Angel/Death

LOLWUT???!?!?!?

But TC, most of the bands in my sig are around that genre, so I'd use some of them.
Chinese Democracy is a great album, people need to get over Slash.

Proud fan of Pop, Rap, Rock, and Metal.

for some reason im really anti-heavy stuff today, maybe it is because earlier today i was on the tabs and chords forum and saw lots of guitar pros, all of them were generic hardcore.
