Hey UG,

I no iv made a lot of posts really so this is going to complete my gas list so i want a tele of some sort:

So out of:
Highway One Tele,
Standard Mex/USA
50's reissue
60's reissue
62' custom reissue
72' deluxe

Which would be best for me i play alot of RHCP and funk?

They are all in my budget so no problems there.

Thanks UG

Hunt down one of the Japanese old '62 or '57 Fender/Squier reissues from the early '80s, they are relatively cheap (around the cost of the HWY One I think) and their tone is vintage-y and superb. You could buy the '62 Custom but the Japanese one is probably way cheaper and actually it may sound better (they've used really good wood in 82/83).

But still you could get a better Strat for playing RHCP, Mexican ones aren't that great because they have pretty hot modern-sounding pickups, you need something with low gain and vintage characteristics, with no RW/RP middle pickup.

Here's an example, '83 Squier JV. Search for Fender/Squier JV series, they are the best, SQ series are pretty nice, too. The specifications are really accurate, just like American Vintage but cheaper
