Nitro, hands down. The Mark V is completely over rated and WAY over priced. I think you would be much happier with the Nitro. They are SICK amps.

To be honest though, for $1450 you could get a TITAN.

i think mesas are reknowned for their ultra chunky (because its loose and lacking clarity) whereas nitros are supposed to be marshall on steroids and, im guessing, clearer.

They're both nice amps, very different beasts though. I think both would work well, it all comes to down preference. I dunno if you can find one in that range, but a Soldano SLOs are renowned for their clarity, maybe try to find one used.

If we're talking about Single/Dual/Triple Rectos... yes. Anything else, no.
