Went to Walmart to meet the guy off of cl and walked out with a mesa halfstack. Easily my favorite amp to date, it just took all last night and pretty much a solid 6 hours of reading the manual and tweaking knobs today to finally dial in a good tone. Will get clips up tomorrow, as it is late and my dad would not like me shaking the walls with awsome tone right now . Anyway here are the pics of my new baby, Mesa Dual rect 2 channel with a Marshall JCM 900 cab with g1275's, will prolly x them with v30s somewhere down the road.

My current rig of awesomness

Didn't you have a 3 Channel Recto that you hated with a passion?

HNAD The 2ch Rectos are sexy as hell...
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

I got the impression from the Gear for Metal Thread that you got a 3-channel Dual Rec and hated it and now you've replaced it with this one!

I do find it odd that you've had experience with all those other amps and you still needed to read them manual to work this one.

Doesn't the Recto have an active EQ? Meaning that if you try to dial it in like a regular amp it will suck booty?

I find this to be true. The first time I ever played a Recto, I dialed it in like a "normal" amp, or at least what I thought was normal, and it sounded like pure ass. No sustain, leads just sucked, and the rhythm was 'meh' at best.

After that I learned how to dial in an amp "properly" and since then, have been happy!

Mesas are a tricky bitch. They have cascading gain, which is you cant just do big sweeps of the eq to find good tone. First you set everything at noon, then tweak the mids slightly, then the bass, then the treble, and then cut the fizziness out by tweaking the presence. And after all this you will probably still spend another hour or 2 fiddling with it. It was worth it in the long run, the engl fireball or peavey 5150 may sound better faster, but this thing absolutely smokes them both it terms of balls, clarity, and versatility. Also i couldnt record clips today because i had to work a double . Will do that first thing in the morning.
