Sup people, I was wondering if anyone knew the specific muscles exerted during the process of palm muting and whether or not these muscles could be "worked out" using weights of any sort. I would like to increase my speed, and I'm hoping there's a quicker way other than simply practicing.

Why work on it outside of guitar? Its prob. better if you train your "guitar playing" muscles by playing guitar.
I don't believe in signatures. Ah, sh...

Weights is for power training, while you need to train endurance muscles.

No other exercise then doing palm muting all day long in a straight rhythm in time.

Well if I'm going to be working out anyways, I figured I might as well work something useful

Yes, but you must understand.

There are 2 types of muscles in a human body.

The strong ones are the red ones, which if trained can exert a greater force.

Training these will just make you be able to strum harder, but not faster.

The white muscles in your body are the once for endurance.

Play through master of puppets once or twice each day by Metallica, and you will see improvement within a week or 2.
