Recently I was looking up tabs and saw that some songs were in dropped Db, and not just dropped D.

Are they the same? And how do you accurately tune to it if not?

Okay what you do is tune every string down a half step so that it is in Eb tuning then drop the low Eb down to a Db viola!

drop anything is the same of drop anything, the note signifies what the bottom string is. ex, drop D is DADGBE, drop Db would be the same but all strings a half step lower.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

Tune your high E string to the D# of your B string (4th fret). Then use that as a reference point downwards. And then yes, usual drop tuning from there.

Tune your whole guitar down half a step to Eb and then tune the 6th string a whole step after that. It's like drop D but everything's a half-step lower.
