Hey everyone.

I was just wondering: is it possible to execute a dive-bomb on a Fender Stratocaster guitar?
I've heard from some that it's impossible due to the pick-ups etc, but have also heard from others that it's feasible.

I've practiced them a little bit, and as I haven't yet replicated a satisfactory dive-bomb I thought I should clarify whether it's possible or not.

Thanks!

you could if you loosened the springs, but that would destroy the tuning stability. I would reccomend one of these if you have your heart set on it http://www.super-vee.com/

of course its possible, but strats tend to go out of tune with excessive use of the trem

The Stratocaster tremolos don't really dive as much as say, a Floyd Rose, though I've heard people saying they could kinda do divebombs on a 2-point tremolo. Your best bet is probably that Super-Vee if you really wanna do divebombs on the Strat.

yeah, apparently the super vee is actually more stable and durable that a floyd rose

Hit a nice natural harmonic, then slowly dump the trem down. It takes your guitar way out of tune though.

If Eric Johnson uses/endorses a Super-Vee, chances are it's legit. You don't get any pickier than Eric Johnson.
