Your not going to get metal with a tubescreamer, even boosted. Get a quality distortion pedal if you want a metal tone.

for a metal tone?

probably the Electro-Harmonix, but you would be better off getting a distortion pedal, as opposed to an OD.

especially do not go with the SD-1
I love the pedal, but it's far too mild for what you want.

but I would definately look into buying a thick distortion pedal.
although I'm not the best to ask about metal distortion, but I'm sure other people here will be more than willing to help you out

Boost your gain channel on your 2000 with the Tubescreamer and BOOM, you got a metal tone. Granted you EQ it well enough. Never played a 2000 myself, but I have heard em enough at local shows that I know they have the voicing for modern metal and have a quite a bit of gain.
