Did you have to get the BCG jab in school?

I ask because it was mandatory when I went to School (in Scotland) but my English friends look at me all crazy and said they'd only got it, personally, cause they were going to India.

EDIT: It was too long ago to be certain it was 'mandatory' but EVERYONE got it.

I remember getting that, though I am neither English, Welsh or Northern Irish so am pretty much confirming that the Scottish do get the BCG jab in school and making this ultimately a worthless post.

I live in Wales and I got mine in school it was like an opt-out thing though, I think, like your parents could say no otherwise it was assumed everyone would have it.

I can't remember though.

They've phased it out now, it's only for less developed areas I think..

I remember getting a jab, one of my friends fainted it. I remember another jab a couple of years on which everyone had to get, but then they stopped doing it the year I was due for one, so I'm not sure which one is which.

Think it was mandatory here... (N. Ireland)

I had an immunity though, so no injection for me.

It's no longer mandatory in Scotland, as of a few years ago. I got it anyway because I went to Africa last year, and it hurt like a bitch.
You're using UG classic, congratulations.

It was compulsory for me, when you were in year 9 which was 4/5 years ago now, they made you do the test and then gave it to you depending on the results, I was already immune so I didn't get it. You could opt out and get it done at your doctors though.

Is that the six needles one?

Because if so, yes, i had it.

The test was the 6 needles in a circle, and if you had a reaction you had to have the jab or something.
