hi what do you all think of Kali/Eskrima/FMA (Filipino Martial Arts).

for those of you who know about these things do you think they are effective or just a cool but ineffective stick fighting thing.

Personally i think they are pretty cool and a pretty solid defense system for street fighting.

I studied modern arnis under Remy Presas in the early 90's and loved it.
It's a very solid defense system... even empty handed.

I'm looking at taking Eskrima as well, it seems like a very useful and well rounded defense style.

i'm thinking of either going into Kali or Kajukenbo, which one would y'all suggest.

i currently do Muay thai but i'm looking to do something that has a little more of an effective combat system and a little less of an arena martial art.

I always stuck to Ed Parker's Kenpo and Modern Arnis. They are both more about real-world defense than competition. There are lots of good styles out there though.

Edit... oh, and the Marine martial arts program... and Marine LINE training.
