not sure if this is the right forum, didnt really find a niche for recording questions in the riff/recording forum

i bought a laptop to use for recording. i have a usb enabled mic. a samson c03u. it will dropout at random intervals while im recording. it could record for 2 seconds and drop, or up to 10, then drop.

are laptop sound interfaces bad for recording basically is wut im asking.

if it matters its sonar le on vista

my laptop only drops out if the sound clips a lot, meaning see if the little red emergency light flashes while you play

i have recorded nearly everything on my laptop and its just a stock standard piece of **** lol

seems like a power issue. try only recording when the laptop is plugged in.

also, try using audacity as a recording/mixing program.

Mine does it too sometimes. I find if I just move the section where it starts recording by a second or 2 it fixes the problem.
