Over the past month or so I have been looking around Australian Luthier websites looking at what is available. So far I have come up with something worth about $900 give or take a bit. I am wondering how you think it would compare to a brand name guitar worth $900-$1000 AUSTRALIAN. Also what could I change in my list to make it better without spending a small fortune.

GuitarAust Custom Kit - $375

That is the base of what it will be and then I will upgrade parts:

Gotoh GE-103BTG Electric Guitar Bridge Gold - $44
Gotoh GE-101ZG Electric Guitar Stop Bar Gold - $33
Schaller Straplock Set of 2 - Full Assembly Gold - $40
eymour Duncan Humbucker SH-1n '59 Neck Pickup - $117
DiMarzio - Pickup - PAF Classic - $190
Gotoh SG381MG-07G Electric Guitar Tuners Gold 6L - Locking - $75
Gotoh SG360-07G Guitar Tuners Gold 3+3 - Small Button - $57

Total: $931. About $970 after shipping.

So for $1000 I get a SG with Flame maple top + trans blue finish, maple fretboard, gotoh tuners, gotoh bridge + tailpiece, Schaller straplocks, Dimarzio PAF Classic and SD '59 pickups.

Do you think it is worth it or should I buy an Epiphone G-400 and have about $300 left over?
My Gear:
Epiphone Les Paul Standard
Peavey Vypyr 30
DW Collector's 3 pc drums
Mapex Black panther snare
Sabian AAX/Zildjian K cymbals.

You are getting much more guitar for your custom idea, better PUPS, hardware etc..
Plus its your 'own' work, more satisfactory in the end.

And also it would be awesome, if you get it, please post pics!

It reminds me a bit of the Gibson Raw Power SG, with the maple fretboard. It'll beat the **** out of a G400 anyway.

200$ for one pickup!?

Buy both pickups. Rub icyhot on both of them. Sandwich your penis between them and walk to the nearest homeless shelter with your brand new icyhot penis sandwich.

It is in Australia so it is mother ****ing expencive. Also since the PAF Classic I can only find at a guitar store rather then an actual dealer I have to pay that much. At some stores Dimebuckers (piles of ****) are $250.

I may decide to buy GFS Pickups if money becomes a bit tight but it will cost about $180 for the set shipped to Australia.
