Fall Out Boy's "I Slept With Someone in FOB and All I got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me"

the guitar riff from 0:02-0:20

i really like the crunch and plam muted tone and I'm curious as to how i might get the same..

i believe at the time of this record, Patrick was using some sort of marshall and probably his SG.

i think given my amp, guitar, and bridge pickup..i could get the same..

just looking for opinions

You want a Diezel amp and something with EMG 81s. Bridge p/u only. Oh, and a metal zone.

Try boosting your mids, you amp seems to be a great amp for that kind of tone.

that's what i thought when i first read it lol.

Fall out boy with diezel, emgs, and a metal zone?!

i mean, their lead Joe is a metalhead and uses mesas on occasion, but no emgs or whatever.

and besides, its Patrick who is playing that riff and he uses more mid friendly amps (marshall jcms, vox ac30, orange rocker maybe) to compliment Joe's higher gain stuff

You think?

FOB's tone is pretty generic pop-punk kind of stuff, not too much gain, plenty of mids and treble, just keep things bright and tight and you'll get the general kind of sound.
A dwarf might hear you. What then?
