Hi guys well basically for my mates birthday we are getting him a new bass rig.
I found him a really good deal on gumtree for some starter stuff but now he wants to move up as he is also the bassists in my band and we are starting to record/gig.

He has been talking about a Fender P bass because he's played a few and loved them and he wants a bass amp of 100 watts +.

Ive got £800 to play with, im more looking for guidance on the amp tbh because whilst i am immersed in lots to do with guitar amps as im looking for one myself, a good guitar amp maker doesnt always translate to a good bass amp maker.

So any ideas, throw them my way

Cheers Dan

do you have £800 for the amp and the bass or just for the amp?

and by the way, don't listen to the guy that suggested the Ampeg BA115 combo. its not good. i used to use one. it was tinny sounding and overpriced. i would suggest something made by Acoustic. i can post a specific model once i find out how much cash you have to spend on just the amp.

What does he play now?
If you're looking for a P-Bass on a budget, try the Squier Vintage Modified or Classic Vibe series'. Ampwise, look at Ampeg or Ashdown.

EDIT:

For the amp:
Bass amp

For the bass:
Fender standard precision bass

This comes to about 1,200 USD and your price range was up to 1,300 USD.
