I just discovered the "stalker check" application on facebook. it purports to show you who most stalks you on facebook. Does anyone know how it works? It says it works on the facebook "OpenStream" API system, but some of the results it gave me don't seem to quite click with that story. The internet is at the moment very vague about how it works, bar a single statement from the developers and ever privacy-concious O.o facebook saying it can't "track profile visits" as this is "against the terms of use" which doesn't seem to stop most apps.

any clues on how it works then pit?

Well, this stalker check thing might explain why I'm sitting in prison now.

That, and the whole "murder" thing.

Why is it that some folks quote praise from other members in their sig lines?
Its lame.

my guess is that it's just made up, and probably stealing your personal details in the process.

Stop using facebook.

p.s i signed onto facebook and everybody has 'stalker check' or whatever posted everywhere.

what the hell?
who cares who goes on your profile, how insecure can you get.

Doesnt work, only tracks people who have actually interacted with ur profile, eg. wall posts...
Can't track people who view your profile.

It's pretty much who's used your profile most, messages/posts/liking things.

I did it this morning.

It looks at the past 200 contributions to your profile.

I don't know if it takes into account just visits to people's profiles. In fact, I don't think facebook registers that at all. Justs posts, comments and ****

does anyone have any evidence of how it works though other than just vague hand-waving "just who writes on your wall"

Yeah it just shows whoever likes / leaves comments / wall posts etc, the most, (your friends basically). It has nothing to do with the profile views which would actually show stalkers.

Dammit, greedy bastards, wanting their lives.

Maybe they should share!

It just looks at your posts on their wall/pictures.

ie, if I go on a girl's profile a million times, it won't say anything.

If I talk to her a lot, it will.

Aye. I'd thought that facebook would be the ones with possession of such data. Just like that old 'MSN block checker'. Doesn't work.

^^I'm not so sure, it showed a bunch of my friends who often interact with my profile, I think there may be some calculations behind it.

Based on the result I received from it - it was just people who comment on my status and post on my wall etc. I asked a few friends and they got the same thing.

Also I haven't appeared on numerous girls results...

FaceBook has been raped by aps.

If you need to talk to someone use a phone or even just MSN, and stop showing off about how wasted you got last weekend. And those bloody public conversations..
