What free/cheap programs or other things can I use to record guitar, and possibly drums as well?

I kinda need money to pay for college, so I'm looking for something not too overly expensive

*Points up to Audacity thread*

Cabinet Modeling will help too, if you can acquire that.

use a program called "Reaper", i've found it much better than Audacity and i use it to record usually... its a trial program but u get all the features nad it never truly expires, you just have to wait like 5 seconds and then press exit on this box and you can use it like normal, great program
