Due to financial struggle, I only have an acoustic guitar at the moment. Now, though times are better and I need a new setup. Firstly I play blues and classic rock. But I also love playing metal, etc. I just want to find the proper mix of everything, Fast neck, Pickups that work in many styles. I need some suggestions for a setup (amp as well) that would work for someone with a very diverse style. Suggestions? I'm thinking telecaster?

If your style is like this...

"Blues and Classic Rock, then throw in a little metal"...

Then..

Guitar: Fender Stratocaster
Amp: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe

That would be around 1800 US.
That alone will absolutely NAIL the blues and classic rock.

Then throw in some kind of Distortion pedal for your metal sound.
The Hot Rod takes pedals VERY well.

2001 MIM Standard Strat
Peavey Classic 30 112 Combo.

Strat and a Hot Rod Deluxe is a good starting point. Great for blues, good for rock. You will find that unless it is pure blues rock, the Strat wil sound too thin. That's when you get the Les Paul.

But you could also get a HSS strat, Les Paul or SG as guitar.

Ibanez 1987 Roadstar II Deluxe
Yamaha THR10X
Marshall JCM900 SL-X
Ibanez WD-7 Weeping Demon Wah
TC Electronic Polytune

I know a guy who will sell me a Gibson SG for $700 USD. Would this be a good choice with any of the combos listed above? I was also wondering about the Fender Bassman amp?

Yes the SG will suit you quite well and then you'll have a fair amount of cash for amps left over.
