I wasn't exactly sure where to put this thread, this seemed the most logical.

Long story short, I was the screamer for a post-hardcore band but I quit and decided to start a band all about what I love: horror movies. I started listening to The Misfits at a friend of mine's suggestion and voila! horror punk became the basis for my project.

Now, I had never actually thought about singing before, as I used to just scream. How can I achieve a horror punk singing style?

I am very well adept and playing guitar and screaming at the same time, and I tried and can sing at the same time just as well, just not the way I really want my singing to sound. Also, the vocals recorded in the demo on my band's myspace in my sig, in case you went there to see my singing, are from a previous singer. We kicked him and now I decided to take up the vocalist mantle.

Thanks a lot for any help I may receive.

Horror punk is good fun.

The musical syntax is simple enough for your retarded goth friends to be able to play, and everything about the genre is outrageously camp!

Theoretically it doesn't matter how you sing because the genre is defined by the lyrics. Horror punk is stupid btw.

I agree with the first statement. Hell, you could scream it all if you wanted. Horror hardcore?!?

Horror hardcore would be great.

However, even though the genre is determined by lyrics, a lot of the vocalists sing similarly. Michale Graves and the singer from The Rosedales both have really strong, beautiful voices.

misfits are the only horror punk that doesnt suck. The rest of the genre is retarded.

What about TSOL?

I've never considered them Horror Punk. I always heard them referred to as death rock, but that's probably taking the whole genre thing too far. I guess if you wanna be specific, that's what they would be.

Death rock could be seen as kind of a sister genre to horror punk.

just think of scary **** and moan a bit, that would propably make you to the top 10 horror punk bands.
#24
Ummm don't copy the misfits? That's a great suggestion. I'm a fan of the genre and half the bands sound like misfits cover bands. But if that's the sound your going for then sing with your throat if that makes any sense. I did that for a while in my old horror punk band days that and yelling.... Not screaming. Then you'd just be lame

Maybe you should ramble and scream like a crazy bum. Thatll scare the **** out of those "Horror Punk" fans.
Seriously.
