Im looking for a new amp, I play punk rock, classic rock, some metal.
Don't really have a budget yet but the 75w peavey vypyr is around $300 and the 60w vypyr tube is around $450, if the tube version worth the money? and how much of a difference is there in the sound, I looked on youtube and its hard t otell b/c online vids never have the best quality.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

having a single powertube in a ss amp or modeler makes no difference

save yourself $150 and get the vypypr 60

get a cheap marshall... my MG15DFX has a button that simulates the sound of one of the expensive tube marshall amps.

The whole power amp is tube, get your facts straight.

still not much help

There is, also, one preamp tube.

The Vypyr 60s do sound different from the 75s. Gearwire did a demo comparing the two. I found the 75 to be more crisp and a bit tighter, whereas the 60 has more of a sag, and more warmth.

Why not try them both and buy the one you like best or try a bunch of amps. You may find you like something completely different.
