So, I have a few metal songs that I want to record, but im not sure how. I want to just get like a USB microphone and just record it straight to Audacity. But im not sure what mic to get. I have about 100$ to spend or so. What should I do?

I use an MXL990 Condenser mic. It requires phantom power so you have to get a pre-amp that provides that. I use a Behringer Tube Ultragain MIC2000. It's probably on the lower of pre-amps, but it does what I need it to.

You can find deals on musiciansfriend sometimes that include a preamp with the MXL990.

Good luck!

Looks like its about $50 for the mic and $30 ish for a preamp. Then if you don't have them, you'll need 2 mic cables and a mic stand. I think you could be right around $100
