I am collaborating with some artists on another forum. We have all decided that we're going to record a track or 2 each to show the others what it is we could potentially bring to the table. This is a track I threw together earlier today.

Just to get a few things out of the way...

The solos are improvised, rushed and sloppy--I know.

The mixing is more or less non-existent (I need monitors, headphones, something...)

That having been said, I am looking for opinions with the hopes that you folks can keep it constructive. Thanks in advance for your comments.

i love doing colabs with other artists over the internet. so much fun! anyways i listend to "joy and pain" the mixing like you said isent there, but this has a raw/live feel that i realy like. reminds me a little bit of early led zeppelin. great playing. a well done track. i enjoyed the listen.

thanks man. i worried about it a little because the beginning sounds nothing like how it ends up. i keep wondering if the change to the "dark side" is too abrupt but the more i listen to it myself the more it sounds right.

well there may be no mixing at all but i think it sounds pretty. that backing track or whatever established a good mood and the tone of that first guitar wasnt that bad and fit quite well actually. there were some points where i felt that the guitar didnt go well with the background but that my just have been me. at the end a distorted guitar came and played this fast shred line that i felt had no place in the song at all.

it was short but i think it has potential, good luck to you and whoever you are working with.
