Anything that feels good to you. Really it doesn't matter as long as the strings like you (honestly, some people hate some strings and break them all the time and some love the same ones and never break any)

And it's kind of a silly question, so I figured you'd get some sh1t answers.
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

For Drop Z Tuning?

Thats tr00 brootalz
#13
anything works its about what feels good to you
i use ernie's no matter what but i just change the gauge depending on what i play
if im playing metal and i tune down to drop C i take a heavier gauge but if im staying in standard or drop D i take a lighter gauge
but its all about preference

hey man, i'll give you a serious answer unlike all of them ^^^^

i play punk on a Les Paul, and i break strings all the time because of the tune-o-matic bridge so i use .11's from DR. This is because they are a little more durable and don't break the bank.

strings really don't change the tone that much on electric guitars, so try out a bunch and see which ones feel best. also, if you do a lot of bends, get lighter strings (i'd suggest no smaller than .9's)

btw, anti-flag is great... just saw them live a week ago

The thickest and thinnest strings you can possibly find are best for punk.

So like .08's and ... .15's.

and that's ok, we'll never understand your corporations.

and as for your "you know nothing about strings" comment, i meant in terms of percentage of where tone comes from in relation to amp, guitar, and strings. For the most part if you get a major string brand they'll sound good, the difference then is preference.

Dragonforce are the opposite of punk, they're bloated and boring. If he likes bloated excess, he's unlikely to appreciate the straight forward minimalism of punk.

Most rock ever written? It's not like whipping through scales on top of it somehow makes it less boring.

Just try a bunch, see which ones FEEL good and sound right. And there IS a sound difference. Its noticeable. Personally I like pure nickel ernie balls in whatever the highest gauge in my store is, i think .10 or .11's. But thats just me, Some punkrockers like DR's in .08, some like Daddario in .13

Its preference. Find your own. We're not being unhelpful, we're telling you the truth.

I think it depends on what kind of punk you play.

Personally I'd go for moderately heavy strings, to really slam on them.

im sorry man but this is a stupid question. There is no strings for genres, just string gauges for tunings.

No. There are string gauges for preferences. Just because metalheads won't go beyond 009s, sometimes 010s, unless for dropped tunings, doesn't mean gauges don't serve other purposes.

15's FTW!!!!! that will give some FAT tone.

but in all seriousness, get anything you like. but try 15's anyway
