My band (aka a few random family members), are having an 80s theme party coming up in September. We're going to play about four or five songs of the period, rock n roll to be sure, but none of us are what you might call professional. I'm a good guitarist, the drummer's good, singer's good, bassist is so-so...y'know the drill. My question though, is what are a few jammin 80s tunes that we AS A BAND can learn fairly quickly and easily by September? Thanks all!

Do some horrible 80s pop songs, or 80s punk, both should be easy enough
#11
A-ha "Take On Me"
Joy Division "Love Will Tear Us Apart"
A Flock Of Seagulls "I Ran"
Extreme "Play With Me"

Every song would be perfect.

There is an 80s rock forum, you know.

Not technically an 80's track, but play Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me as well.

Wow, thanks for all the imput! Some great ideas here, I'm sure to find some worthwhile songs with all this. (I prolly shoulda mentioned the singer's a female, tho!) But she's really good, and can do guy stuff. (I wish I had a recording of her singing Paranoid by Black Sabbath at our last party...priceless!
#33
Possessed - Death Metal

Or if you want a serious answer, Dokken - Alone Again. Might be cool to have a girl singing it, too
