You're not going to get something thats US 500 for AUD 600.
Example, they pay about 650-700 for a used 6505, and a good price used here would be about $1600 if you're lucky.

EDIT:
What current gear do you have?
Willing to go used?
Nearest capital city?
Basses:
Fender Precision Bass
Fender Jazz Bass
1967 Fender Coronado Bass II
Warwick Star Bass
Squier Precision Bass TB

Umm ive seen amplifiers for 500 that are 30w

yes but they probably suck. wattage=/=quality
you can buy a 100w amp for $150 im sure, it will simply sound terrible, it will do it loudly but it will sound terrible.

Edit: Bugera would be a fantastic investment.

If you search well enough and up your budget by a few hundred you can get some pretty decent stuff.Keep an open mind when it comes to brands. My laney (50 watts, tube, pretty nice head) was $500 AUD and a passable cab would be maybe $300 AUD more.
People reading this thread from America, keep this in mind.A marshall MG 50 combo is $850 at my nearest music shop
Mind you,that place is a tad overpriced anyway,but $850!?!?!

Don't even bother with the Marshall MG, the Peavey Viper 30 is significantly better. I would recommend you be patient, save a little more and look into used tube combos on ebay and other places like that. With the recession going the way it is, people are chucking out real bargains all over the place.

EDIT: btw TS, a 15w upwards tube combo will be more than powerful enough to keep you tied down for a long time. Judging by the amps you were looking at (enough to give me a rough idea of your experience) I think it's safe to say you wont be gigging any large venues for a long time, if not forever; tube amps are usually several times louder than solid state amps of the same power.

Ibanez RGR421EXFM

Have a look on your local gumtree, some great deals on there, perhaps try and find a second hand Bugera, I once found a Roland JC-60 with a broken reverb for $200 on there once.
