I took a look at this thread and I noticed that the very first reply was Master of Puppets, and I realized that almost every guitarist I knew knew a riff or two from that song. I'm not saying they necessarily LIKED the song, they just happened to know the intro or that little lead part after the acoustic thingie, or whatever, and I'm just wondering how many other people know a bit of it?

tl;dr seems like everyone knows Master of Puppets. Do you?

yes. the whole thing...front to back....its a very easy song.

It's even easier to say it's a very easy song.

Whilst we are on it I can play Yngwie Malmsteen's back catalogue note for note, even when he is improvising. Every note he has ever played! Live versions too.

I would prove this but you'll have to take my word for it.

I haven't seen very many good covers of MOP, and I'm not actually picky.

I know the intro and 1st verse, I got bored after that and learnt Seek & Destroy intead.
NO ONE EVER READS MY POSTS.

I can play the intro, but that's it. I never bothered to learn the rest, it's not really one of my favorite Metallica songs.

yeah triviu will go down in histroy for making it.
The will be heartache,
there will be rain,
and joy I can't explain.

I'm not saying I particularly like the song one way or another, it's fun and simple, but not a terrific song, it just seems like a staple among guitarists.
#17
Nope. I'm not a fan, I've no interest in learning it at all. I know a few other Metallica songs though, so hey.
I won't lie, I really am a terrible guitarist. I'm learning though, so I would appreciate a bit of patience if I ask stupid questions or make incorrect statements.

Please and thank you.

Its similar to Sweet Child o' Mine, Stairway to Heaven and Smoke on the Water, in that most guitarists 'have' to learn it at some point. Ironically I can only play Master of Puppets out of the 4

You forgot Wonderwall as a crowd pleaser.

Haha!! I can play a little bit of all of them!! And of course, all of MoP. And yes that's exactly what I mean. Even if it's just them watching their friend play it and they go "oh." and then later that night they find themselves playing it. It's just one of those things.

I play it to warm up, and for practicing timing during soundcheck and what not.

It's nice to whip out for the older metal crowd, but I'd never want to do a full on cover.

I do know the whole thing and can play it on demand, but I just won't do it.

I already have too many guitar-hero kids on my back anyway.

I wouldn't say its a very easy song but its good for practice, getting good stamina with downpicking the solo is a bitch tho. All in all I'm a megadeth fan so i learn more of their stuff.

I can play parts of it, but I haven't played it in a long time... not really into metallica any more

Brain Stew is a very easy song, Master of Puppets isn't.

And yea, I can play bits of it, like the acoustic bridge. Other than that I have a bit of trouble with the fast parts.
