This is the first full song that I recorded that I believe isn't total ****e. I will C4C if asked. Click on My Profile and check out "Playing with Matches". Comment here or in the song comments.

Description:

My first complete song that was recorded. The drums and bass are once again simulated. The guitars sound ****ty because I don't yet have an interface, so I'm recording straight through my sound card. Bad idea. Anyway, recorded with my trusty Epiphone SG. Crate Amp used.Distortion thanks to the "UG's Official Guide to VST Amp Simulation!" thread. Drums thanks to EZDrummer. Bass thanks to vb-1 synth. Mixed in Cubase. Enjoy.

Enjoy and comment.

well there is good potential there

the guitar riffs are a little to simple and repetitive for this genre - the drums are going crazy yet the guitar riffs are painfully simple and dont match the rest of the tracks.

Id say add more variety to the guitars, try and add more "flair" so it suits this genre better, but overall this is definately something that can be fine tuned into a good track

Not bad for a budget set up, the song isn't bad but is a bit repetitive and needs more variation.
As far as the recording the guitars sound very thin but that's probably the way they were recorded, get your self an interface and download Nick Crowe's 8505 (free) and you'll be a whole lot closer to a great sound.

The drum programming is ok but the actual drum sound is very thin and need more punch and depth.

Overall a decent song that could be a great one!

Crit mine?

There'll be a crit there in a sec. I am planning to get an interface, nothing expensive, just something I can plug into a USB port, without going through an amp or straight into a sound card.

nice man. i liked the machine gun drum rolls to start it off. good playing. as far as the mix, i thought it sounded great for what you said you used. there is something very raw sounding about it though that i dont like. almost like its not a very easy listen. im not sure what it is. anyway it was okay. not bad thats for sure.
