From the limited views I caught of it, that LOOKS like a Fender Standard Strat, but because it's John Mayer, it's probably something MUCH more expensive from Fender.

Sounds beautiful though, and that's coming from a metalhead.
You know, you're probably reading this saying "Hey, I'm bored, maybe this'll be funny?"
It's not. Too bad. No, I am not refunding you those 6 seconds of your life. So :P

50's/60's

They both sometimes have the "vintage maple" tint to the headstock/neck.

This is a picture of a prototype based on John Mayer's 61 Custom Shop relic and the original. The prototype is the one in the case.

Yes. I don't personally have anything against relics if they are done right. A true relic is by far the coolest IMO. That being said I would really have to love a relic to buy one. A guitar playing and feeling good is what I look for more than anything.

i agree, but i dont like the road worn strats, the reason being is because all the relics are done exactly the same, if they were done differently, id buy one.

I always thought it was an SRV strat, one of the recreations that came out a couple years back....but alas cranium2001 is correct I believe.
