First of all, YES, I know there is a ska punk forum; I thaught this forum would be more appropriate.

----------------------------
Well, I started playing ska guitar today, and I have a couple of questions, so if you guys would be kind enough to answer them, I'd be greatful.

1) IS this right? In Ska Guitar playing, you downstroke strum while left muting ( or dead noting) the strings, then you upstroke strum while playing the ska chord. Is this correct?

2) When I play Ska chords, the strings not supposed to be in the chord still ring out. Is there a way to mute them?

3) What would be a good easy Ska song to practice on that could maybe improve my ska playing abilities? My friend suggested Sound System by Operation Ivy (which I love). Would this be a good song?

Thanks for reading, and please help me!

1. yep
2. a usual ska chord uses the bottom 3 strings, so when you do your upstroke, just dont stum the top 3

I have another little question...when I have a ska chord, do I barre every string or do I only barre the ones needed in the chord?
