I have a new Hagstrom Viking Deluxe and I have been trying just about every settings available on my Vox Valvetronix VT15 and a few other amps, but I can't seem to get the 'woody' tones I've heard in demo videos of the guitar. It seems rather sharp and more rock than bluesy or jazzy for most settings, even the very cleanest. Does anyone have any tips for coaxing some of the woodier tones that this semi hollow should be capable of, or is it just not going to happen?

It just seems to sound more like an SG, but it does have some serious bass power. Overall it's great, slick action and a really nice handly neck, plenty loud for unplugged playing, and just gorgeous.
