Redone and much LONGer than when I posted this half a year ago
I figure I may just ditch this now, but it means enough to me to at least post put it up for one last ride

He stays up for hours just to hear her ramble on
As always her voice brings a smile to his face
But alone she sings along to all the saddest lullabies
It's not because of what he says or what he does
It's just what she's used to

She holds on tight to keep her tears from falling out
At the sight of her old memories
She carries all the pain inside
Never thinking it would matter to him
Buth they both know they both see this

Crashing down on him
like two headlights that just can't stop
Please let your brakes lock tight
don't try to turn away
He'll be waiting here on the yellow line
with his eyes shut tight and his arms in the air
As the rain drags his hair down with every pounding drop
He's screaming
Just hoping his cries won't reach the sky

He stares into the cold light over his bed
hoping to burn his eyes until he's blind
so that the next time he blinks
he won't see her grinning back at him
when his eyelids close
Only praying that when his sight has gone
he won't remember her face
It's not because of what he says or what he does
It's just what she likes to do
As Magnificence screams in her ear
she laughs and hums along

Crashing down on him
like two headlights that just can't stop
Please let your brakes lock tight
don't try to turn away
He'll be waiting here on the yellow line
with his arms held high in the air
As the rain drags his hair down over his face
He's screaming for her

With a knife resting on his wrist
anxiously waiting to carve an image she could never repeat
Deep in his mind he knows
it's not because of what he says or what he does
it's just a game she plays
With no beating in his chest
he waits for three simple words
but instead he gets five
She's only praying he's too weak
She meant all the best intentions
but her best intentions always yield his worst results
and as he traces the picture
his only solace is that she'll never have his strength

Crashing down on him
like two headlights he won't let stop
He'll be waiting here
with his eyes relaxed on the yellow line
and his arms raised and ready to carry him away
Screaming
just hoping he wont see her staring at him

Hopelessly tired,
he sits up
It's time to go
He slips on his shoes and slides into his shirt
when she loses her frustration and jumps over her magnificence
as if to protect him from the door
He clenches his hands and he shuts his eyes
because he knows he can't
run his fingers down her wrist
face her
and say goodbye
It's not because of what she says or what she does
It's because he doesn't want this to end
He's looks back into his memory to find that he's blind
to all the trouble he knows she's not worth
And as he takes her hand in his and opens his eyes
He knows this can't last
And as she leans in close
he can hear his lullaby

I like this one a lot. I picture it being played on an acoustic

(btw, the title of the song is awesome)
