I've never played one of the second gen valvestate series amps on its own, I used to run one through a Hartke bass amp because the power amp was dead in the Valvestate, and it was alright.
Idk, now that I've gone valve, solid state amps sound like vomit to my ears, nice amps, but just you wait till you get your hands on a JCM 800 or 900 or something =P
