heres what i thought is best (i can't record any good sound clips of the sound, sorry):

marshall 1959HW with 10 all across the board

a boss GE-10 EQ with mid boost (i use the MXR 10-band EQ, but he used the boss) http://s1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/rocker1212/?action=view&current=EchoplexEQ.jpg
heres the settings for his EQ

the one thing he didn't use: THD 16 OHM hot plate with the bright switch on, i couldn't get as bright as his sound, so heres the thing that boosted it to his standards.

So...

Is there anyway we could hear an example of this sound like... say... a sound clip?

I mean most people don't have that specific amp.

What was the point of this?

Anyone who listens to VH can tell you how to get the EVH tone, variac'ed plexi to reduce input voltage, lowering the B+, thus headroom allowing him to push the amp harder with more gain, into two 4x12s of g12m-25 speakers (the second most important aspect of his sound outside of his Marshall). With a bright sounding guitar with a bridge PAF (bright pickup)

This guy on the Metroamp forum has it down...

this guy seems to have too much gain. eddie used 20 foot cables which thinned out his sound. hence the EQ he used to boost his mids. i used the bright switch on the hot plate because if i didn't it sounded more like aerosmith lol. and also because i'm buliding a frankenstrat and i don't have the EVH pick up on any other guitar.
