i wrote a punk riff.
it sounds awesome when the guitar is clean, but it's a higher end sound that needs distortion.

i know some songs use little riffs like that has open strings, but it doesn't sound awful and messy. (intro to First Date by Blink 182)

can somebody help me out?

Learn to control your hands.
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

Palm muting, possibly right hand muting depending on the chords, or play it in a different position if possible
