Well technically I got it about two weeks ago but have been in NC.

This is my 16 birthday present from my parents. I had to pay $100 of it. Got it for $375. The retail $900.

I've wanted one of these forever.

Fender '69 Reissue Thinline Telecaster Refinished in Metallic Plum.

(Sorry for cellphone picks, even if they are 3.2 magapixel. Took them with the phone my grandparents bought me.)

Photobucket album.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

I'm probably going to try to find the nicest Twin or Super for under a grand I can, and drop some Loller pick-ups in it. My teacher recommended the pick-ups.

Any suggestions?

jason loller pickups are as close as it gets to the sound of a real vintage guitar. you can call him up and tell him you want your 69 thinline to sound like a 69 thinline. he will hook you up. its not cheap. its the best. also lindy fralin makes vintage pickups as good or better than loller. so check them both out. loller is more expensive but just a little bit more accurate in making an exact dead on replica, right down to the pencil markings fender used. bare knuckle makes good stuff also. the top 3 companies IMO

how difficult is it to build your own guitar?

Plays good but frets out on high bends. Needs a set-up. Unfortunately I can't buy a new amp or pick-ups until I buy my dad's Subaru off him.
