Well I have a simple answer. No pedal, but plug your guitar into a computer and use a bitcrusher!

Hello everybody,

I know that this thread is old but I hope my message will be helpful !

Here, you can find few pedals for 8-bit sound :

http://woolyss.com/chipmusic-hardware.php#bitcrusher_machines

The website is for 8-bit composers but there are good links about your search.

From the demos I've heard the Geiger Counter doesn't sound very useable. A lot of sounds, but to me they sound like noise.

I think a "sample rate reducer" (?) would be a lot better, especially when used with a fuzz or something.

Apparently the MXR Blue Box can make the 8-bit noises also.

The best thing to do would be to wire some kind of setup through an original Gameboy sound card.
