I'm wondering which would suit my playing style better, the ESP EC-401 or the ESP EC-401VF. The regular 401 has EMG 81-60 pickups and the 401VF has Seymour Duncan JB/'59 pickups.

Which would suit me better? I play a LOT of different styles (precisely why I'm having this choosing problem) from Led Zeppelin to Jimi Hendrix to Children of Bodom.

Which would be better for all of these styles?

EDIT: I'm gonna be pretty strapped for cash after buying either of these guitars so a distortion pedal isn't an option

def the duncans. EMGs are the best for metal, but only for metal.

well thats hard, but you can do both with either set, the seymore would be a little better for clean stuff, and the emgs would be a little better for metal, Id go with the seymores tho, and install the emg pa 2

That is completely untrue.

Get the SD's, EMG's may cause clipping on your amp...

that's unfortunate
since its a solid state amp, go with duncans. EMG's sound rly bad with solid state amps

You probably won't hear a difference between the two then, so go with the duncans so you don't need to change a battery after a while.

EMGs CAN do other things, but the duncans are much more well rounded and can still do metal just fine. its all opinion, but its not easy pulling off led zep with emgs...
