As a studio Band:
1. They are getting older meaning there opinions on what good sounds like is also going to change.
2. Bob Rock produced four of their albums (Black - St. Anger) and was originally Motley Crue's producer...Enough said
3. Robert Trujillo sucks at bass, who cares if he can go fast with his fingers. Jason and Cliff (R.I.P.) were way better for Metallica.
4. They are sell out pigs. (Guitar Hero: Metallica for ex.)

As a live Band: (most of these are not actually Metallica's fault.)
1. Jame's broke his voice in 92' and it has never been the same.
2. Robert Trujillo's crab walk is disgusting.
3. Everyone misses Jason's growling back-up vocals
4. As I said they are getting older so they are not going to play as fast as they did in the early 80's.

I know people aren't going to agree with so yeah.
Sorry for spelling errors etc.

Rob Trujillo sucks at bass?

Listen to Infectious Grooves for an example of what he can do on bass. Yes metal may not be his key area but he's still extrememly competent at it

Black album is nothing special and Dr. Feelgood has a few good tracks.

He is where he is because those records sold. talent isn't the main reason.

Lars...Ulrich.
Believe that is two words, m'friend.
Yes Metallica is not the same as they used to be, its called growing old and maturing as a band. Not everyone is going to stay safe and the same, they are going to change.
It is not (technically) James' fault that he killed his voice, so just deal with the fact that he has the courage and dedication to get going with what he loves.
And at your comment about Bob Rock...*facepalm*
Best dirty pick-up line...

I don't think the majority of the metallica fans buy their albums because of the producer.. I hope you were sarcastic.

you now when i first saw the thread title i thought "obvious troll is obvious" but there are a few i disagree with.

in response to the bold items.

i think rob is a great bassist, but you're right, he's no cliff.
would you turn down having a video game made about you?
i didn't care for jasons backup vocals.

the rest i agree with though

EDIT: but unrelatedly, why did james' voice change/break?

It appears you have changed you perspective on things my friend haha.
But I agree about Trujillo. As my girl says, he's ugly as hell, he looks like a mexican troll! But he's still a solid bassist

1. Seldom will you hear a metal fan speak about the producer

"Oh man, that guy sure knows how to produce records"

2. Britney Spears sells thousands of albums. She is not very talented.

Records sold is not proportional to talent.

It just happened man. He had to get vocal training and all this **** afterwards. Which I personally think is one of the worst things about metallica now. James angrily screaming > james singing.
just give me a fender and let me rip
