Hello UG i have a couple of questions here
Firstly.

1) Would it be better quality if when im recording vocals to plug the microphone straigh into the computer. or to plug the microphone into a mixer then into a computer?

2)What is the best way to record a drum solo? cause our drummer gets very confused doing all the drums seperately. so would it just be easier to record the drum solo as one?

Thanks a lot in advance

when people say they record the drums as seperate tracks
they mean they have the drums mics up with 2 or more mics

the separate tracks ARE RECORDED at the same time

How many mics do you guys have ?

Edit

the reasons why
is
1. its gets a more natural groove/feel for the drummer to maintain
2. it sounds more realistic
3. its easier and less time consuming and confusing

plus more

have a look at that

and yes it does pick up noise from other mics, that called bleed, but even that makes the sound more realistic

plus u can get rid of most bleeding and unnecessary sounds through adding effects after recording like noise gates and compressors
