I have UG Black Style and I can barely read my signature.

Also, I like black.

Actually, it seem quite simple and logical.

you pull volume up neck splits
you pull tone up bridge splits

That's simple. I was looking at the T C Ellis Les Pauls and they have the usual two vol and two tone. Every pot is a push-pull and can do phase switching, coil taps and serial/parallel switching. You should see the wiring diagram.

Tone splits the bridge humbucker and the volume splits the neck humbucker, then you switch between the both humbuckers or just bridge or just neck, seems to make perfect sense to me. It's probably the easiest coil splitting configuration to follow.

not too complicated. simple as it gets, and one of the most effective/efficient means of splitting

this is actually everso slightly simpler than my ibanez JTK2 which has a 3 way toggle switch, 1 vol/tone and 2 rocker switches for the coil splits on each humbucker.
Rig Winter 2017:

Fender Jazzmaster/Yamaha SG1000
Boss TU-3, DS-2, CS-3, EHX small stone, Danelectro delay

ok...it looked confusing at first, i'll give you that.

after staring at it for 3 minutes, I understand now.

for me, I was confused because i'm coming from the SSS strat layout and I imagined a 3rd pickup in my head...until I realized it was HH.

5 pickups????

And what would the R do???
#23
^
R = [] | []
1 = [] . ..
2 = .] | ..
3 = .. | ..
4 = .. | [.
5 = .. | []

[] = hum.
| = mid single coil (like in a HSH system)
[="left coil of a humbucker.
"] = right coil of a humbucker

TS, It's really quite simple. It's a regular pickup switch and you can pull out the tone knob for bridge pickup to be a single coil and the volume for neck pickup to be a single coil. Coiltap owns for clean!!!
