black falls out of the range of visible light. White combines the entire spectrum.

Technically speaking, they aren't colors.

Aesthetically speaking, they are. Else you'd go asking for 'colorless' paint or a paint that does not reflect light within the visible spectrum.
The content of this signature is pretty much irrelevant

They are colors... When you see a color, it's because every other wave of the visible spectrum us absorbed by the object, and that specific color is reflected back at you. White is when all colors are reflected back at you, and black is when all are absorbed.

Well they might not be 'colors' but did anyone ever think they might be 'colours'........

Also although they're technically 'shades' of colour for all practical intents and purposes they are their own colours
.

As someone said before, they're shades.

The lightest shade of any colour is white, the darkest shade of any colour is black.

Now that would be a good time at the paint shop.

Right?

But then wouldn't white be a color. If green's a mix of yellow and blue then by the logic that a mix of colors green is not a color. Of course then again I probably completely missed the point.
#31
The way I see it, white is a colour since it is a mix of other colours, while black on the other hand could be determined as not being a colour since it's the absence of any colour.

A "color" is a specific wavelength of light. White is all visible wavelengths so it can't be a color by definition. Black is the opposite so the same is true for black as well.
