So this has happened twice now, my amps sound dies and everything turns on just no sound, brought it to a tech the first time and said it was a blown resistor. Now it has happened agin, same problem so I assume its a blown resistor.

I recently changed the tubes in it, to jj el34 (Which it can be changed to), however on the xxx there isn't a bias trim pot, just a selector for 6l6 and el34, I done some research and everything should be fine, but could not being able to bias the tubes be the reason the resistor keeps blowing?

Peavey had problems with the screen grid resistors so changing to el34's is not advised according to an email i shot peavy a couple of years ago

There ya go.

Tell this "tech" to install 1K 5W screen resistors for you. 6L6s are fine with 1K and there is no change in tone. Win win...

Also don't forget to rebias with new tubes, especially a different tube type.

You can't rebias the super 40, there is no trim pot to bias it.

^You can still rebias them. You just have to change a resistor instead of turning a pot.
