On some SG there are a small plate between the neck pickup and neck. I see those quite often on those half-side pickguard SG. What is it called?

Borrowing a pic from a fellow UG.
The plate is between the neck pickup and the fingerboard.

I believe the proper name is "that annoying thing you always forget to order when getting a custom pickguard".

anyway, i had never noticed those before. i prefer an SG with the full pickguard. i never really saw the point in the vintage looking half pickguard thing...

I've been wondering the exact same thing! Every day I play my SG and think "Why is that even there?"

Nevar!

Widdlies bug me and I can't think of a time I'd need to play a chord down there.
